Sallie Mae offers a $25,000 scholarship open to the first 1,000 applicants, who must be high school juniors or seniors under 18 planning to enroll full-time at an undergraduate institution or vocational-technical school. A school counselor or community leader must nominate applicants.

The Rose Scholars Program, founded by NBA Star Derrick Rose, offers one scholarship of $200,000 (paid out $25k per semester for 4 years) and two scholarships of up to $20,000. The scholarships are open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA and a 1230 SAT score and/or a 21 ACT score, who are civically minded and display leadership qualities. Applicants must complete an online application that requires SAT scores, extracurricular activities, and an essay.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is the largest undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend the nation’s best four-year colleges and universities. In addition to the monetary award, Cooke Scholars receive comprehensive educational advising, significant cohort-based programming, and graduate school funding, as well as a thriving network of nearly 2,500 fellow Cooke Scholars and alumni.

The SR Education Group offers a $5,000 scholarship open to students at least 16 years old with financial need enrolled at an accredited post-secondary academic institution. Applicants must submit an online application which includes two 300-500-word essays

Endowments are established at fourteen schools in SC.
- Byrnes Scholarships
Applicants must have financial need and must also have lost one or both of their parents.
- Central Carolina Community Foundation Scholarships
More than 30 scholarships available, each with different criteria.
- Harry Hampton Fund Scholarship
For graduating seniors. Must pursue degree in natural resources, law enforcement/criminal justice or journalism and attend a SC college, university or technical college. Downloadable criteria and applications on website.
- Kids' Chance of South Carolina
Scholarships for dependents of workers that have been seriously injured or killed due to work-related reasons.
- South Carolina Farm Bureau State Fair Scholarships
For students under age of 20 with livestock competing at the fair.
- South Carolina Farm Bureau Youth Ambassador Scholarship
Must be age 16-21 and reside in the home of a bureau member.
- South Carolina Wildlife Federation
Educational grants for full-time SC students pursuing environmental education at SC schools of higher education
- National Honor Society ScholarshipUp to $25,000 for high school seniors who are members in good standing of an affiliated National Honor Society chapter.Due December 7
College Board Opportunity Scholarships$500 - $2,000 scholarships open to class of 2020 high school students who complete key steps in applying to college.Opens in December
- National Association of Women in Construction, Columbia Chapter #113
Designed to promote interest in the construction industry by assisting SC residents to achieve a higher level of education in the industry or a field directly related to it. Deadlines are June 1st for fall semester and December 1st for spring semester. Downloadable criteria and application on website.
